Labor Day: Celebrated by Nurse Advocate’s trough Mission at Calauan, Laguna

Many of us celebrated May 1 as a national holiday; they called it “Labor Day”.  A national holiday usually celebrated by having many job fairs nationwide, to give job opportunity to our fellow Filipino people. Some of them are in the rally opposing  the current government administration for the employment and unemployment status, as well as the salary of laborers in the country.

According to the Philippine History, the first Labour Day celebration was held May 1, 1903 in a mammoth rally in front of Malacañan Palace staged by the Union Obrera Democratica (Democratic Laborer’s Union), while compelling for workers’ economic rights.

Philippines will mark the annual celebration of the Labor Day this coming May 1, 2014 which falls on Thursday with the theme “Sa Sipag, Tiyaga, at Talino, Buong Mundo Saludo sa Manggagawang Pilipino.” The Labor Day is listed as one of the country’s 15 national holidays for 2014 based upon Proclamation 655 signed by President Benigno Simeon Aquino III.
